At last, you guys! I moved way back in November, and have been steadily working away at painting and fixing up my new apartment since then. On Friday I finally finished, which means that instead of spending the weekend covered in glue/sawdust/paint splatters, I spent the weekend with a book! Which is exactly how things should be. I spent the weekend with Jed, in Darryl Pinckney’s new novel Black Deutschland. Together Jed and I explored the seedy underground of 1980s Berlin, and I have to say, it was pretty excellent. Pinckney’s writing really drew me in to the story, and I spent a lot of time speculating on the back stories of the secondary characters, and really, just wanting more, more, more!
