Sales conference has this tendency of bringing out the flailing fangirl in me. It’s uncomfortable, and
awkward, and full of a lot of violent yet involuntary arm movements brought about by sheer excitement
and delight. Thankfully, on the internet, fangirl flailing is quite common – and even accepted. One does
not participate fully online without geeking out over something (if you are among the rare few who don’t,
then I pity you).
But enough blabbing! Here are some of the things that had the fangirl in me giddy.
Why I’m excited: I’m a BIG geek. Video games, board games, comics, anime, SF/F movies and books – those are my passions. And occasionally, I like to dabble in the arts (mostly drawing and painting). So a book on geek art is right up my alley!
Why I’m excited: In keeping with the geek theme, this graphic novel by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang looks like it was pretty much written/illustrated FOR ME. Also, how often do we get to see / read about gamer girls?
Why I’m excited: HOW COULD ANYONE NOT BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS?!
Why I’m excited: I often make bookish lists, so imagine my utter delight to see a Listogrpahy journal devoted to just that! It just makes perfect sense!
Why I’m excited: Last year, one of my favourite humour/gift books was I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats. And now there will be one featuring KITTENS. Just look at the cuteness! I can’t even!
Why I’m excited: First Chronicle Books brought us the Hey Girl journal – and to be honest, I didn’t think they could ever outdo themselves after that. But oh, how wrong I was! And I know what you’re thinking: you would never have thought that you would want a Bill Murray journal, but now that it is a thing, YOU NEED IT.
Why I’m excited: There was Stormbringer. Then, Kinslayer. And now, finally, Endsinger – book 3 of the Lotus War Trilogy – is here! And if you haven’t read these yet, I have two words for you: Japanese Steampunk.
