As many of you might know, the Scotiabank Giller Prize longlist was announced this morning.
The Ampersanders in the Toronto office gathered ’round and live-streamed it.
And obviously, snacks were involved.
11am came and introductory remarks were made.
They sure know how to keep a bunch of book nerds in suspense!
Then, finally, they announced the twelve longlisted titles, chosen from a pool of 168 books.
We are incredibly excited that four of the titles longlisted are published by two of our amazing
publishers, Biblioasis and House of Anansi:
Arvida by Samuel Archibald, translated from the French by Donald Winkler (Biblioasis, 9781771960427)
Martin John by Anakana Schofield (Biblioasis, 9781771960342)
Confidence by Russell Smith (Biblioasis, 9781771960151)
Undermajordomo Minor by Patrick deWitt (House of Anansi, 9781770894143)
And a huge congratulations as well to our friends at Coach House Books, Penguin Random House,
and HarperCollins.
But now that my TBR pile has grown exponentially, this will be me for the next little while:
