Happy Friday!
I have just started re-reading The Shell Seekers
by Rosamunde Pilcher as St. Martin’s Griffin is
bringing out a new edition this May. I vividly
remember reading it when it first came out and
I was curious to see if it still held up; I wanted to
see if it affected the me who I am today as much
as it did the me then. So far I am just over a
hundred pages in and I have to say it does hold
up. I still really care about Penelope Keeling, her
daughter Olivia and still really dislike her other
daughter Nancy and her son Noel. Yes, it is
definitely set in another time (I guess it is a
historical novel now!) but the storytelling still
works and I think it is a book worth reading.
If you want to be taken away to a different time
and place, drawn into the sometimes happy sometimes
fraught life of others and just revel in a tale well told,
give The Shell Seekers a try.
Have a great weekend,
Dot
