Just wrapped up the Western Book Fair in Victoria. And yes it did look like Ali’s previous post on the last day but before you easterners turn green with envy – here is what it looked like Monday.
Good weather for working with enthusiastic booksellers who turned into enthusiastic singers at night. That’s right – we had a karaoke evening and it was impressive. Our booksellers really rock. Not to mention our publishers – here is a photo of Raincoast veeps Pete MacDougall and Jamie Broadhurst belting out Roxanne. (Not too much to worry about here Sting – but it was definitely sung with feeling!)
I am in no position to criticize as I find the best thing about celebrating my birthday is not having to sing Happy Birthday. I can absolutely relate to Tim Falconer’s new book Bad Singer coming in April, from Anansi. I want to find out if I am in the 2.5% of the population afflicted with – amusia – the scientific term for being tone deaf. If I am not – with enough festive beverages I just may be up there singing next year!
